Tax Alert – New Zealand – Changes to the Fire Service Levy
We can confirm that the New Zealand Fire Service is planning to make various changes to their Fire Service Levy (FSL) from the 1st July 2017.
Firstly, the name of the Levy will change from Fire Service Levy (FSL) to Fire Emergency Levy (FEL).
On top of that, they are also making changes to the size of the contribution. The new rates will be (in NZD):
– Residential buildings: 10.6c per $100 insured up to a maximum of $106.00
– Residential contents: 10.6c per $100 insured up to a maximum of $21.20
– Motor Vehicles < 3.5T: $8.45 fixed
– All other property: 10.6c per $100 insured with no maximum
